Further research uncovered even more applications of this technology for medical purposes.
In a two-year clinical trial on cancer patients undergoing bone marrow or stem cell transplants were given a far red/near infrared treatment for oral mucositis -- a common and extremely painful side effect of chemotherapy and radiation treatment. The trial concluded that there is a 96 percent chance that the improvement in pain of those in the high-risk patient group was the result of the HEALS treatment.

When your nerves are damaged - be it from physical trauma, underlying medical conditions, vitamin deficiencies, or something else - a fluid is produced.
This fluid - called chamber fluid - contains neurotrophic factors that accelerate nerve regeneration.
And in a study on near-infrared (a.k.a. Red Light) therapy on damaged nerves, researchers found that exposing the damaged nerves to red-light therapy for 1-hour a day improved nerve regeneration and increased antioxidation levels in the chamber fluid.
In the control group, antioxidation levels in the chamber fluid significantly decreased between the 3rd and 7th day…
But in the LED red-light therapy group, antioxidation levels didn’t decrease until 7 days.
Researchers concluded that “LED irradiation improved nerve regeneration and increased antioxidation levels in the chamber fluid. Therefore, we propose that antioxidation induced by LEDs may be conducive to nerve regeneration.”
